📖 What the card shows
The name makes Death sound frightening, but in tarot it almost never means literal death. On the horizon of the traditional image, the sun is rising. It stands for the end of a chapter — clearing out what is worn and moving to the next stage. It is a card of cycles: without endings, new beginnings are impossible.
🔼 Upright meaning
The time has come to let go of something you have held on to for a long time. Say goodbye to habits that do not fit, relationships that are over, environments that no longer help you grow, and new space opens up. Change feels strange at first but becomes a turning point for growth. The courage to accept an ending opens a new door.
🔽 Reversed meaning
You may be unable to move on because you cannot let go of something that has already ended. Check whether fear of change is keeping you in a familiar discomfort. Letting go is not denying the time you spent — it is a way of honouring it.
💗 Love
One chapter of a relationship ends and a new stage begins. For couples, it can be the moment to end a pattern of conflict and rebuild. If your heart is still lingering on a connection that is over, this is the sign that it is time to release it — that is how room opens for someone new.
Friends, family and colleagues
Relationships need some clearing out too. If a connection leaves you drained every time, some distance is good for both of you. The room it frees up can go to the people who truly matter.
💼 Work and money
Big changes may come to how you work or to your career path. If a project is ending, wrap it up cleanly and prepare for what is next. Financially, a good time to cut unnecessary subscriptions and expenses decisively. End old spending habits and money starts to build up.
🧭 Advice
You have to put down what you are holding to pick up something new. An ending is another name for a beginning.
